"Over 2 l/2 hours of the world's most beautiful music." These words on the cover are very close to true. What an incredible value this collection is!! So many of these compilations of this sort are cheaply produced, and those "greatest hits" collections are one trite piece after another -- after a while one runs screaming to the stereo to shut it off. However, this collection is top-notch, and the performers they chose are masterful musicians at the top of their game. Every selection is lovely, each one unfolding after the other in a sublime slide show of exquisite compositions performed by legends. This is TWO CDs of sparkling performances composed and performed by masters. There is not a bad selection or a piece of inferior quality in the entire lot. The violin is an extraordinary instrument that, when played correctly, can pluck the heartstrings and stir the soul. This is a two CD compilation of some of the finest violin-orchestral adagios I have ever listened to. It consists of some of the greatest concertos,adagios,sonatas of 23 composers ranging from Bach to Vivaldi.The orchestral arrangements are accompanied by ten of the most outstanding violinists from Joshua Bell to Pinchas Zukerman. This music will lull away your cares and transport you to heights of both joy and sadness. It is a pure delight to listen to. Sit back, relax and dream as this music surrounds you with peace and tranquility.You are sure to get lost in its harmonies.

This is the most wonderful collection of relaxing, slow, peaceful violin pieces I have ever encountered. I purchased it to help me relax at bedtime or while reading or just relaxing around the house. Every night my husband turns it on so we can drift off to these soothing pieces. I think it is also a GREAT value because you get two CD's in this set for this low price. What a GREAT buy!! I recommend this CD to anyone who likes violin and likes to relax, and who among us doesn't need that these days. This would also be great in a nursery helping to soothe your little one to sleep while listening to great classical violin adagios!!
