This is a sublime, madly atmospheric soundtrack to one of the best films of 2011. But Julio Iglesias's wonderful La Mer, which accompanies the film's final minutes, is absent. What gives?

A Quiet Little Masterpiece From Iglesias,

Alberto Iglesias is one of the best composers working today and like Alexandre Desplat he is due for an Oscar real soon. What makes Iglesias so stunning is his ability to adapt to whatever the story requires. His score for The Skin I Live In is an absolute masterpiece and is almost guaranteed to get at least an Oscar nomination. For Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy he crafts a brooding jazzy concoction that reminds me of Ennio Morriocne's old suspense scores. It's quiet, it's focused and it's brilliant. "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ... Alberto Iglesias ... Silva Screen Records (2011) (4.5 stars rating)",

Silva Screen Records LTD presents "TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY" [Soundtrack], the score is by the celebrated composer Alberto Iglesias ... Oscar Nominated for Original Score The Constant Gardener (2005) and Original Score The Kite Runner (2007) -- and the list could go on, very accomplished film score composer.
Mesmerizing undertones of jazz, with light piano fingering gives this an almost dreamlike film sequence. One reviewer mentions central elements of Jerry Goldsmith (The Russia House), which is one of my favorite scores from Maestro Goldsmith. But, listen to the strings and counter melodies that extrude into the bleak air of the night.
Iglesias is right on with each track ... one can only hope this will receive some recognition for a mention in the award department.
This is one of those soundtracks/scores that you can play and listen with your conscious or subconscious, while reading a book or just under winding after a hard day.
