HBO's Mafia masterpiece The Sopranos is a remarkable television series--it's witty, creative, and truly unique. The same praises could be sung for a show's soundtrack, an odd but fun mix of beats, classic rock, and--what else?--Mafia-staple Sinatra. A3's theme "Woke Up This Morning (Chosen One Mix)" gets things off to a lively start, as does bluesman R.L. Burnside's "It's Bad You Know" (from his Come On In remix album). Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" (from his Slow Train Coming album), Bruce Springsteen's "State Trooper," and Elvis Costello's "Complicated Shadows" aren't tracks you'll hear on the local classic rock station, but they work perfectly here. And when was the last time you heard both Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul and Nick Lowe on TV? In short, a great, eclectic collection. --Jason Verlinde

Comment: I am a fan of the Soprano's show so naturally I like the music from it. It is a good cd to kick back and listen to the various artists and songs from the TV show. If you are a Sopranos fan I would recommend you buying this cd. It has a mixture of the old songs by Cream, Bo Didley and it also has some songs by some new artists also. I think it is a good cd to listen to. I'm glad I bought it. Sandy McClaflin

Comment: Now I have the soundtrack to go with the DVDs of my favourite show. Six Feet Under came with the soundtrack CDs and was disappointed Sopranos didn't come with the same. Thanks Amazon.

Comment: The Sopranos did a lot for New Jersey's image. It sort of reinforced a mafia family oriented drama. The music did the best especially the title song. I remember driving to Jersey City listening to the soundtrack and I don't even have HBO to watch the series. I catch it now and then on Arts & Entertainment. It's a great series which was filled with interesting characters like Tony Soprano, Carmella, and their children, Tony Jr. and Meadow, an unlikely name for a girl. Also who could forget Livia, the stone cold matriarch who was played beautifully by the late Nancy Marchand and Junior. The show's creator filmed the Sopranos in Northern Jersey and I live in Central Jersey. Of course, I much prefer the Sopranos over the cheap counterfeith reality version of NJ Housewives easily and long for the Sopranos to return.
