Summary: Music from Peter Gunn 2009-01-06
Comment: Excellent well produced CD. If you like sophisticated jazz from the late '50s, Mancini is at his peak of cool with these selections. It's a great play in the car with the top down and the volume cranked up to fully enjoy the bold brass and bass undercurrents.

Summary: Best television score ever. 2008-04-12
Comment: Mancini's early jazz compositions for small combo and big band are unmatched for jazz listening enjoyment. Everyone should have these two albums (one CD) in their collection.

Summary: Tre Cool 2007-10-19
Comment: Very cool collection. I didn't know it was called "crime jazz" until I saw another reviewer mention it. I only know the TV show from reruns, as it left the airwaves a few months before I was born. However, I fell in love with the show and the music. The music was the perfect fit for film noir mood of the series. It is also great lounge music for chilling out in the evenings.

Summary: WOW! 2007-08-09
Comment: Sizzling hot jazz!
Everybody knows the "Peter Gunn Theme", but I had thought the rest of the album would be "filler".
Uh-UHHHH! No way is THIS filler material! Mancini doesn't have a single dud on the album!
" Brothers Go to Mother's", "Fallout", "Floater" and "Brief and Breezy" are dynamite stuff!

Summary: first rate........highly recommend 2006-01-14
Comment: Combo of two albums released in '59/60 from the TV show. Had both in LP version back then. Finally picked up this CD replacement. Essence of cool, at least early 60's style. Tuneful and inventive. Mancini knocked them dead and enhanced his already impressive reputation with these compositions. Based on reviews written this is the disc to buy as other single album remasters were reportedly not done well. Don't have the others but know this one sounds great.
Great add to your collection.
