However, this CD is a grave disappointment. Despite the advertising on the cover that says that these themes are supposed to be the most popular, this is only an arbitrary selection of themes. Although we get to hear the famous Main Titles, we don't get to hear things like Princess Leia's Theme or the Imperial March in their entirety, let alone Yoda's Theme or the haunting Across the Stars. Instead, these themes are just an arbitrary selection of themes handpicked by a compiler at Target, for whom this disc was marketed. This disappointing CD release makes a travesty of the Star Wars scores as presented on CD, and I think it would probably be better that Sony-BMG had compiled a CD of all the concert suites from the saga. Meanwhile I'm still looking out for a proper CD with all the important Star Wars themes, and maybe Williams (or even Kunzel) might be willing to release such a disc. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful: Too Much Is Missing, By This review is from: Star Wars: The Corellian Edition (Audio CD) I'd much rather have seen a two disc release for Episodes II & III, like the other 4 movies. This review is from: Star Wars: The Corellian Edition (Audio CD) I can't think of a single excuse for this release, unless it was to milk the cow to the last drops (or so we hope). First we had the complete music, now we have excerpts which, together, make little musical sense. The majority of tracks are from action scenes, making for a lopsided view. How about a Star Wars Symphony or Suite (I'm not kidding) mixing themes to make a coherent whole? This one is going to the discard pile. |
