This is one of those soundtracks that may have worked better during the vinyl era. Most of the tunes here (each and every one a '50s rock classic) are likely already in the CD collections of fans of this kind of music. That's probably the case with Buddy Holly, Ben E. King, the Del Vikings (two cuts here), the Coasters, Jerry Lee Lewis, and perhaps Shirley & Lee. It's probably not true of the Chordettes' "Lollipop," but that tune is used to such great effect in this terrific flick that you may just want to watch the video again. You can't go wrong with 10 feel-good classics. --Bill Holdship

Summary: Truly one of the best soundtracks ever 2008-11-16
Comment: For those of you who have never seen Stand By Me...go and see it. It's a phenomenal movie that captures the era and sentiments perfectly. The soundtrack was perfectly matched to the movie, the characters, and the storyline. You'll love the movie and you'll love the soundtrack...certainly one for all the ages!

Summary: One of the best soundtracks ever 2008-08-18
Comment: It's just what you'd expect if you've seen the movie. It's not very long, as some other reviewers noted, but the songs are all great and bring back memories.

Summary: Simply not enough 2008-03-02
Comment: Love the movie, love all the songs (certainly better then anything today), but why include only 10 nostalgic songs? The whole disc is only about 30 min. And some of the best songs from the movie are missing. Why couldn't they include:
The Impalas - Sorry (I Ran All the Way Home)
Bobby Day - Rockin' Robin
The Monotones - Book of Love
The Fleetwoods - Come Softly To Me
The Mystics - Hushabye
So this is the only reason I can't give it 5 stars.
