While most '80s soundtracks offer collections of radio-friendly hits from haircut bands, the Some Kind of Wonderful soundtrack features quirky non-hits from bands like the Jesus & Mary Chain, Flesh for Lulu, and the Apartments. This delightfully non-mainstream soundtrack features Stephen Duffy's "Lonesome," the March Violets' unforgettable cover of the Rolling Stones' "Miss Amanda Jones," and Pete Shelley's "Do Anything." The highlight of the CD is unquestionably Lick the Tins' gravel-voiced, tin-whistle-driven cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love." Just listening to this CD can throw you into a John Hughes nostalgia tailspin that you may not want to come out of. --L.A. Smith

Summary: Classic Hughes Film with a Classic Soundtrack 2008-05-21
Comment: Most of John Hughes' films were written with the soundtrack in mind. He uses music to tell the story, and this CD takes you back to those key moments in the film. There are some 80's songs that are from bands that may not be remembered, but the music itself made the movie. If you loved this movie, you'll love the soundtrack. It isn't always a CD you can listen to straight through all the time, but it has its moments.

Summary: Missing Song is the best one! 2008-02-24
Comment: The first song playing at the beginning of this movie is the best one and it's not even on the soundtrack. It is "Dr. Mabuse" by a German group called Propaganda. Overall the soundtrack is still great though.

Summary: Gem of a soundtrack 2007-09-18
Comment: I wore out my tape of this soundtrack and finally got it on CD. The music is just as good as it was 20 years ago (has it really been that long??). It is still fresh, original, and is meant to be listened to over and over. I can still imagine the scenes each song is associated with when I listen to this soundtrack. If you liked the movie, you will love this CD.

Summary: Some Kind of Wonderful to Your Ear 2007-07-13
Comment: The CD is amazing. Every song is fresh sounding even today, a great mix between downright rockers and pretty ballads. The best part of all is that none of these artists are what you would call big names, most in fact are probably unknown to most of the music world. This just proves, when you dig a little, you truly can find buried treasure. This is a must have to your music collection!

Comment: This is one of the best 80's films and one of the best soundtracks, if you grow up in that decade you have to own this CD and buy the DVD.
Here is a classic example of Non-famous band music at his best, the only negative thing I have to say about is that they didn't include the Charlie Sexton - Beats So Lonely that play in the confrontation between Keith and Amanda Boyfriend at his House when Elias Koteas enters to fight and when Amanda and Keith enter the museum that plays Catch my Fall from The Hell raiser himself Billy Idol.
