Admit it: If you had to pick an artist to give voice to the wackadoo thinkings of a monkey beloved by most of the American populace over age 3, you could do a lot worse than Jack Johnson. Black Eyed Peas? Too hyper. Death Cab for Cutie? Too ironic. They Might Be Giants? Too eggheaded. Johnson, though the object of much rightful jealousy--here, after all, is a guy who only stumbled into music and vaulted himself up the charts after a successful career as a pro surfer--turns out to have the goods to do H.A. Rey, Curious George's creator, proud. Fans familiar with Johnson's earlier discs will recognize a certain laconic sprawl and easy fascination in his songs that suits the theme of perpetual puzzlement perfectly (here, let's not forget, is a guy who racked up fans with songs called "Bubble Toes" and "Banana Pancakes"). That the music takes a childish turn barely registers--songs like opener "Upside Down" are classic Johnson, all wonderment and groove, and the collaborations with friends Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa warm up, wink, and scamper off before packing on the weight of excess meaning. "We're Going to Be Friends," track seven, seals the deal--when you can make the White Stripes sound compatible with the Man with the Yellow Hat, you know you've got a multi-generational winner. --Tammy La Gorce

Summary: Great voice, great songs 2010-07-29
Comment: My daughter loves both the movie and the music. Jack Johnson has a great, pleasing voice that is both sonorous and soothing.
If you like the movie, this CD is a must have; even without the movie, the songs are a good mix of up tempo and calming music, great for the kids to sing along with in the car. The album is aimed at the kids, yet the music is grown-up enough that it is does not cause the driver to retch, as too often is the case with kid's themed music that is either insipid or saccarine based.
Highly recomend.

Summary: Really recommend, especially for the family with little kids 2010-07-15
Comment: I'm just starting to listen Jack Johnson recently and just love his mellow and take-it-easy style. I listen to any kind of music, from rock, jazz, classical, country, pop, you name it, but his style is kind a special and just love it. I can listen his album whole day over and over with the repeat and feels really good. I don't know how to explain and the best way to get this feeling is to listen to it.
And this album, Curious George, is great especially if you have little kids. We can sing along with them and you can also enjoy it.
Highly recommend.

Comment: A perfect album that the whole family can enjoy. Parents shouldn't think they are trapped listening to high-pitched children's voices all of the time just because they have kids, there is quality family music out there and this is some of it.

Summary: What a wonderful and fun CD!! Hurray! 2010-05-27
Comment: I believe this was my 4th purchase of this CD. I so love it. I have been a Jack Johnson fan and as a child I loved Curious George. It just seemed like a good match. I love listening to this while I work...as I am now. This CD is very upbeat and fun for kids AND adults. I work in a kid's hospital and loaned it out to my friend who is the Playlady in the atrium where kids play while they or their sibs wait for medical care. Mom's and Dad's are often there too. It is so positively received. I bought her a second when the first disappeared and one for my 20 something neice.
I invision this being used for kids 2 and up. It is fun to play and work by and makes me smile. It is not intrusive, does not disturb my thoughts or ability to work. Somehow I think it facilitates it. I bet it would be fun in the car with kids to cruse along with. Positivity and flowing music.... gotta love it.
Ordering from Amazon is so easy... just like 1,2,3 or A B C... :-)
