Summary: Awesome soundtrack 2010-07-15
Comment: I could repeat what many have said, but I will keep it simple - this is a fantastic soundtrack. It has a very unique sound and fits Guy Richie's style very well. After seeing the movie I couldn't get the main melody out of my head for hours. When I bought the soundtrack, I must have listened to it two or three times and savored every track. Discombobulate is a thoroughly enjoyable 2 and half minutes of fun.

Good stuff. Hans Zimmer is in the same exalted category of great composers as Goldsmith, Williams, Horner, and (more recent inductee) Giacchino.

Summary: Ennio Morricone shoulda got a credit for the theme... 2010-07-15
Comment: I enjoy the album as much as the next guy but I am surprised it's not mentioned in any reviews how heavily Zimmer 'borrowed' both theme and sound from Ennio Morricone's Once Upon a Time in the West score...

Check out tracks 3, 5 and 9 here:

Once Upon A Time In The West: The Original Soundtrack Recording

Otherwise, it's a refreshing departure from Zimmers normal action score style.

Summary: Leave The Case Alone. Case Reopened. Watson, What Have You Done? 2010-07-11
Comment: Guy Ritchie's highly-anticipated film about Sir Arthur's legendary sleuth from 221b Baker Street is nothing less than a bull's-eye saying "V.R." My favourite tracks are "Psychological Recovery...6 Months," "Catatonic," "I Never Woke Up In Handcuffs Before," "Marital Sabotage" & "Discombobulate" (featured prominently at the end of the movie).
However, I feel "Psychological Recovery...6 Months" was mis-named, though, as it's really the big action set-piece, which takes place during the thrilling climax of this excellent film. Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law & Rachel McAdams were perfect. Downey's English accent was spot-on, and there are references a-plenty from the stories themselves, including a famous line from William Shakespeare's "Henry V," which was used by Sir Arthur as Holmes' catchphrase. Mark Strong was imposing and terrifying as the villain. All the while, a familiar adversary lurks in the shadows...
Get ready for "Sherlock Holmes 2," combing through the clues December 16, 2011.

Summary: Missing Rocky Road to Dublin 2010-06-19
Comment: I love this soundtrack, however, I was very disappointed when I discovered that "The Rocky Road to Dublin" by the Dubliners was not on it.

Summary: Music 2010-05-10
Comment: Awesome music to accompany an outstanding movie. Hans Zimmer really captures the essence of Holmes and Watson's relationship with his unique style. I challenge you not to start swaying with the music and getting into it. This movie was definitely wrongfully shunned at the OSCARS. By far better story than AVATAR.
