Product Description
Rock Of Ages is a Tony nominated smash hit musical comedy currently running on Broadway and starring American Idol's Constantine Maroulis and Amy Spanger. In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. It's a hilarious feel-good love story told through the hit songs (including several medleys / live mash-ups) of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. The album was mixed by Michael Barbiero (Appetite For Destruction, ...And Justice For All).

Comment: I ordered this the day after I went to see the show. Not only was it cheaper than what it was selling for at the venue, but it got here right away so I could get my 80s musical fix!

Comment: I rented this thinking it would contain original traacks of classic mostky 80s metal. Instead it was an album of a cast of actors doing covers/ tribute. Unless you really really super like the movie it comes from, instead it is just horrible covers. Compares oh so poorly to the original rock star/ metal version. One of the worst albums I have ever listened to. Just bad taste.

Comment: Without seeing, commenting or criticizing the merits of the actual show, the book or its songs, I bought the CD as I was interested in hearing the audio arrangements as creatively brought to life from the original musicians to the stage. With tons of added dialogue, which is a total distraction from the vocals, the biggest complaint is that this showcases just small cuts of the songs and not its full arrangements, which I assume (and hope) are actually done in the show. Maybe that's the only way you can see and HEAR the songs in its entirety. Since you don't get that here, the CD is a total jip...can't recommend it all and sorry I bought it.

They made mention of putting me in fuchsia-colored jeans, instead of my Wranglers...

Summary: Outrageously superb!! 2010-01-18
Comment: Saw R/A this past weekend with friends in NYC. Somehow misplaced the cast recording purchased at the show (probably left it in the restaurant,duh....)so purchasing another via Amazon because I can't wait to get one at the next show I go to. If you get the chance,RUN to see this one! The sounds will bring you back to the time when rock like this was king!!! The cast is nothing short of purely amazing and Arsenal is out of sight!!!! If you get to Broadway just hold onto your hats when they do "Here I Go Again"!!!! Be prepared to laugh and sing along thru the whole fantastic 2hrs. The theatre even hands out psuedo Bic lighters!! Awesome show in every respect Bought tickets for another performance even before I left the theater! Rock on!!!!!!!!
