Old-school reggae, Motown music, English Pop, Rock and Hip Hop. Toots and the Maytals being one of my favorite groups, I thought it was great that "54-46 Was My Number" made its way into the film.
As a Wu fan, the "Release Yo' Delf" remix was an interesting addition to the score, though it's mostly an electronic beat that goes on a bit longer than I would have expected. There's also a Rza-produced remix of "Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday", another song already on the album. Amazon doesn't list it in the tracks, but the remix features Wu-affiliate Stone Mecca, a Los Angeles Neosoul group. "Sway" is my favorite inclusion in the soundtrack, a mambo track by Rosemary Clooney with a real Perez Prado feel to it. Overall, this is a fun soundtrack, though not an outstanding compilation. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Repo Men: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD) For this particular film, one could not ask for a much more fitting compilation of musical gems. though the tracks are very eclectic, they all make you wanna do "the repossession mambo!" if you can't find a song on this disc to enjoy, you don't like music! there is literally every genre from 40's era classics, to current alternative to r&b. the only track i would have added was "all of me" most recently covered by michael buble! you may not like every song, at least not every day, but it's a great mix cd to pop in on your way to work! great variety! From the opening track to the last, Repo Men OST takes you on an intriguing journey into the senses. Whether you need a good album to accompany some late night reading in front of the fireplace OR if you want something smooth and hip to shake your body to... this album has it all. If you've seem the movie, rest assured that the OST contains many of those impressive remakes and a few of the original classics that probably brought you to the edge of your seat and commanded your attention throughout the film. Even Method Man's track didn't seem too out of place! Now, I've got a date to do the Repossession Mambo, catch you "forgs" later! |
