Summary: "POPS STOPPERS" - "BOSTON POPS"- Arthur Fiedler 2007-12-17
Comment: This is a great CD re-issue of the original album of the same title. Even the original album cover has been reproduced for originality and nostalgia purposes with three well dressed ladies or models of those times at the door of Boston's Symphony Hall looking at and pointing at a Boston Pops poster at the front of the famous site announcing a Pops performance that evening.
Recorded at Boston Symphony Hall in 1958, this great compilation includes a brilliant arrangement of one of the earlier recordings (prior to the famous 1963 recorded version) of "Jalousie" the classic tango composed by Jacob Gade, also classic gems like "Ritual Fire Dance",by Manuel de Falla, "In a Persian Market", "War March of the Priests" the latter used as theme for the horror film "The Abominable Dr.Phibes" (1971) starring Vincent Price, "Espaņa" by Chabrier, the famous "Ride of the Valkyries" by Wagner, "Liebestraum","Flight of the Bumblebee" by Rimsky Korsakov are all worth the ticket, all brilliantly arranged by Maestro Arthur Fiedler in his unmistakable style.
If you love classical music do not miss this classic re-issue, its well worth it, especially after so many years of being discontinued it was finally brought back. Get it while copies last.
