Congratulations to Razor & Tie, they have put some major thought into the release of this CD showing the late Anthony Newley at his very best singing compositions mostly by himself and Leslie Bricusse as well as some earlier work from 1960. First rate booklet too. Let's have more like this please! Paul Goodhead - President of The Anthony Newley Appreciation Society Worldwide.
Who'd have guessed this would be a wonderful surprise?,

Who'd have guessed this would be a wonderful surprise? I, for one, would not have. I received this CD with the bulk of an entire collection of less than interesting middle-of-the-road Jazz, some neat Pop greatest hits packages by less obvious acts, and a few odd soundtracks and "best of" collections by vocalists... all for FREE. So, not expecting much, all of these CDs went thru "the shredder" and I've come back to this one more than once. ANTHONY NEWLEY was truly a stylist, and what he may have lacked in stature, or photogenically, he made up for with the nimble and powerful voice he possessed, a mesmerizing instrument, which, coupled with his acting ability, left too scarce a recording legacy. What a VOICE this man had!
