These ones do a much better job when it's raining/snowing out. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Kool Stop Claw 2 Bicycle Brake Shoes (Cantilever, Salmon) (Sports) I just got these by inertia: I've had salmon koolstoppers on a roadbike I was riding downhill.
they are overkill when riding in flatland with v-brakes. As expected from any salmon coolstoppers the noise is abundant, but the stopping power is prodigious. I'm not very proficient at toe-in adjustments though. So your noise may vary.. If you ride downhill you probably do want these at least in front. In the back you can do with the lesser quieter variety i'm yet to experiment with (i have stock black pads on the back of the bike) Even though i live in flatland now I use these as an extra insurance against semis doing left hooks with barely enough time for me to stop. You do want superior slicks to match the stopping power of these as I think they are an overkill with knobbies. |
