Edwards, one of the movie's co-directors and co-writers, also wrote most of the songs in the movie. The material ranges over many genres, and he is convincing with each one.
There are several score cues peppered throughout the album that show John Mark Painter's excellent abilities as a film composer. Painter's background includes the popular mod rock band "Fleming and John". He has also extensive experience engineering, mixing and playing for BEN FOLDS, among others. ANNE HATHAWAY, the voice talent for "Red" in the movie, sings the upbeat song entitled "Great Big World", while BEN FOLDS appears on the track "Red is Blue", and both give a terrific performance. But it's hard to find, since it isn't in production any more. Just a tip--you can pay $50 or more for the cd on e-bay or from one of these sellers, or you can download it for $10 from Napster. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Hoodwinked: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD) Listening to the songs on this CD allows one who has seen the movie, not only to recall its most touching scenes, but to give them deeper diminsions. In "Red is Blue" (sung by Ben Folds) Todd Edwards verbalizes a youthful identity crisis which most have experienced + you'll hear of the shooting star you saw in Red's night scene. In "Critters Have Feelings" -- guys, Todd wrote & sings this song about your first love that turned your heart to splinters & of course you'll recall the Wolf accidentally eavesdropping on the catepillars. The upbeat "Great Big World" displays Anne Hathaway's here-to-for unknown crystal clear singing voice & gives a clue that the sequel will probably take Red beyond the forest. On "Be Prepared" you'll relive the mountain goat's Swiss Army horns and you'll re-experience the avalanche imperiled ore car, roller coster ride as Benji Gaither reveals a Gaither style you've never heard before.
