Summary: Ailes Grises - Revisiting Old Home 2008-12-16
Comment: First off, if you haven't seen the anime..what are you waiting for? Go watch it now, I'll wait.
I'm a huge fan of the soundtrack genre. The power of soundtracks lie in their ability to give you a sense of nostalgia, to relive the original work without actually revisiting it. Hanenone fits the series perfectly, and as a standalone is filled with calm, little bit of a Celtic & Renaissance flair, quaint but inspiring music. Those in tune with the series will definitely feel a greater sense of appreciation for the music though, but tracks like Free Bird and A Little Plate's Rondo will please even the casual listener.
My only complaint, as another reviewer stated, was the lack of the series Ending, "Blue Flow", a song which lyrics and composition really bring out the essence of the series. I'd recommend hunting that down as well, to complete your collection of this awesome series.

Comment: The music to this soundtrack is very soothing and relaxing. I purchased this along with the entire Haibane Renmei series and have been very pleased with the series as well as the soundtrack.

Summary: Excellent, despite minor quibble 2005-02-03
Comment: I absolutely love the CD. Even if you haven't seen the anime (and you really should), the music is an absolute feast for the ears. If you can handle soft music without tons of crashing, vulgarity (or even lyrics in general) this is a great CD. The two tracks with vocals are nice and have a good air to them, and I'm happy every time one of this CD's tracks comes up on my random playlist.
My only real complaint is a lack of the series ending theme "Blue Flow." If that was on here, this CD would be perfect, but even this minor oversight doesn't dimish my rating in any appreciable way.

Summary: Simply Splendiferous 2004-11-29
Comment: I got this OST after watching (and falling in love with) the TV series. This is a perfect counterpoint to the really sad state of most American TV "music"-- every track on this OST is a little marvel of emotional perfection. Some will get stuck in your head for weeks (yet somehow never become annoying), some will make you want to grin and dance, and some will make you want to cry. The best (such as Ailes Grises, one of my all-time favorite piano pieces) will make you want to do all three at once. This is the perfect gift for someone who thinks that all Japanese music is fluff about the power of love and the triumph of the human spirit. Simply must be heard.
