Great retrospective of under-rated musician,

While Andrew Gold achieved success as a solo singer, his main contribution to popular music was as songwriter, arranger and producer. He worked with Linda Ronstadt, Art Garfunkel, 10cc and others in the seventies and has written songs or played instruments for plenty of others. Later in his career, he wrote songs for use in soundtracks. Along the way, he has recorded his own songs too, which this double CD allows us a chance to listen to.
As far as his own songs go, Andrew is mainly remembered for Lonely boy (a top ten hit in America, which just failed to repeat that success in Britain, peaking at 11) and Never let her slip away (a top five hit in Britain that features harmony vocals by Freddie Mercury, but only a minor hit in America).
