A little history about this album: This concept album was initially recorded back in 2006 but it was not released until now, 2011. I guess it's because the musical was doing better in Germany than over here in America. I saw this version of the Dracula musical on Broadway in 2004. I had seen the play with my mother (who passed away from throat cancer in November of 2006). We saw the play in the summer of 2004 and we had spectacular seats. At one point Tom Hewitt (who was playing Dracula at the time) bit down on what I believe was a capsule of blood and the stage blood squirted up and out and actually hit my mother's shirt. It was clearly an accident. She thought that was hilarious. We had great seats, front row center orchestra. And the play was fantastic. I still have the playbill. And since we had so much fun that day I have fond sentimental memories of this musical.
I actually ended up liking Wildhorn's Dracula more than the final musical I saw with my mother, Sir...Read more

After some years of waiting, the English Concept of Dracula is finally out! And about time!
Being this a Concept, it doesn't mean it represents fully the stage version. Curiously enough with DRACULA, the Concept was made after the Broadway run. Why? Because that version didn't represented the vision of the authors but that of the producers. So Frank and Jeremy recorded this Concept with the authors vision of the show.
Meanwhile 2 major productions in Europe fixed the show. So the Austrian Cast Recording is the one that actually represents the stage version.
This English version allows you to get to know the show if you don't understand German, but also gives you songs that were in the Broadway version but are no longer in the show ("The Heart if Slow to Learn"), songs that are in the German version but weren't on Broadway ("Please don't make me love you", "Loving you keeps me alive") and a song that isn't in neither of the versions but is on the licensed version of the...Read more

The songs, the voices, the music all add up to make a hauntingly
beautifull telling of dracula in music. The cast singing the
songs do so with such emotional depth one can inmagine the convincing acting job they do on stage. I have never seen this
musical, but am so glad I listened to the music sampler and ordered it! I love musicals and this cd reminds me of the
haunting music of Andre lyods webber phantom of the oprea.
It is the newest gem of my musicals cd collection. I doubt I will ever tire of listening to it! Do yourself a favor and if
you love musicals get this cd you won't regret it!
