5.0 out of 5 stars Why not include all of it in the Augmented Edition?, November 24, 2011

Concerning the soundtrack I have nothing to say but wonderful things, it's really a great accomplishment in atmospheric music.

Now, I bought the Augmented Edition and have just 12 files. Do you expect me to pay for something twice? The Augmented Edition was supposed to have the soundtrack, instead we got half of it.
For shame, Squeenix...

EDIT:For those who didn't understand, the Augmented Edition is supposed to have the soundtrack included, but it's just 12 tracks. This has 25. Nothing to do with the game sound files.

As far as ambient/cyberpunk style electronic soundtracks go, Deus Ex Human Revolution is certainly one of the best. I've been a fan of the main theme song "Icarus" since the debut of the amazing cinematic trailer from Square and Eidos from E3 '10, and have been eagerly anticipating the soundtrack. Let me tell you, if you're a fan of this genre of music, as I am - It does not disappoint.

The first track on the album "Icarus-Main Theme" is by far the catchiest tune and the main act of the score. Delivering a religious tone and a moody/futuristic atmosphere--complimented by the synth arpeggios, and eventually percussion's alongside additional instruments and choir to formulate the final result. I think I've played this song for almost everyone I know(yeah, I've been listening to it a lot..), and I always enjoy hearing their reaction. "Wow, this is from a video game?" "It sounds like it's from a movie." A friend of mine actually purchased the game after listening to the...Read more

This album might possibly be one of the best soundtracks that I have heard since Daft Punk's, Tron Legacy album. Like Tron Legacy, Michael McCann gives the game personality and what I believe to be another dimension. Oddly enough, I have yet to play the game. Why? I am one cheap dude. In short, I am that guy who is behind the "curve" while everyone else is playing the newest and greatest game that just came out. Any way, this ambient infused album creates a vision of what the world of Deus Ex is. Since I haven't played the game, it reminds me a bit of "Blade Runner". A futuristic noir setting where the two "super powered" countries are combined into one. Am I right? If you like the ambient, electric, orchestral, and cinematic combination then this album is for you. After listening to this soundtrack, it makes me want to play the game even more.

It's a must own.
