This is a great C.D.! Love is a Song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It was nominated for an Academy Award that year. My other favorites are April Showers, Looking for Romance, Let's Sing a Gay Little Spring Song, and Wintry Winds. The booklet included with the C.D. is great.

This is a modern Disney original soundtrack restoration from the 1942 movie by master restoration producer Randy Thornton. He has taken the original soundtrack music recorded in the 1940's, reconstructed it,and de-noised it so that it sounds clean and crisp. The song "Love is a Song" was nominated for an Academy Award but was beat out by "White Christmas" that year. The Score was also nominated for 'Best Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture category'. Long time Disney Studio composer Frank Churchill and Larry Morey wrote the 4 songs that had lyrics for Bambi, and had worked together on the songs for Snow White. The movie was made during the period when Walt was still very involved in every aspect of developing an animated feature, and Bambi was no exception. He pushed his composers hard to come up with the sound he envisioned. Bambi is known as "Walt's personal favorite". The feature had only 900 words of dialogue, so it was intended that the score and songs would carry the...Read more
