4.0 out of 5 stars They forgot many many songs in the movie, June 18, 2007
This review is from: American Psycho: Music From The Controversial Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I love the movie hands down of course. But the soundtrack, what in the heck were they thinking? Yes some songs that were in the movie are included in the movie soundtrack but they should of included all of the songs in the movie!

If I had to redo the soundtrack over again, here is what I would include:
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) - Dope
Monologue 1 - John Cale
Walking on Sunshine: Katrina and the Waves
Something In The Air (American Psycho remix)- David Bowie
Lady in red; Chris DeBurgh
Watching Me Fall (Underdog remix)- The Cure
John Cale's Dialogue to bartender during New order song
New Order-True Faith
Addicted to Love-Robert Palmer
The christmas carol played at evelyn's christmas party
Monologue 2 - John Cale
Trouble - Daniel Ash
John Cale's dialogue during hip to be square
Hip to be square-Huey Lewis and the News
Genesis-In too deep...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Killer soundtrack., June 23, 2003

This review is from: American Psycho: Music From The Controversial Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Like any cd ever released, this could have been better, plus or minus a few songs. What's missing most are the "Phil Collins", and especially "Huey Lewis" songs. "Hip to be Square" was THE song of the movie. However, what's included is all good stuff, be it 80's tunes, or more modern rock. You can't go wrong with "The Cure", "David Bowie", or "Daniel Ash" (from "Love&Rockets"). The tracks from "Eric B. & Rakim" and "Tom Tom Club" are fun, and the "Information Society" song, well that's pure energy of course. Probably what makes this soundtrack a "cut" above the rest, are the monologue's from Patrick Bateman himself. He covers everything you need to know about diet and exercise, emotions, and "Whitney Houston". Bloody good movie too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the obvious choices, August 14, 2001
This review is from: American Psycho: Music From The Controversial Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Fans of the film will immediately notice that the most obvious and up-front tracks from the film have not been included on this disc. Sussudio, Hip to Be Square, Simply Irresistible, Walkin' on Sunshine, Lady in Red--none of these songs appear on the soundtrack. Which means people either like this disc or hate it. Personally, I do like what they have included here. However, I think the film warranted a better overall release, and I don't just mean song selection.

For instance, like many recent films that have featured extensive period music (Grosse Pointe Blank, The Wedding Singer, Boogie Nights), it may have been a nice idea to release 2 separate CDs. One could have been the songs mentioned above, all of the obvious choices, and the other could be this one, the single offical release. While I appreciate the choice by the album producers NOT to put the most obvious tracks on the disc and instead opt for a more eclectic selection from the film, you still have to wonder how they DID...Read more
