On these two albums, you will find a more mature voice of an older teenager as opposed to the voice on the albums of A Portrait of Donny/Too Young and Donny Osmond Album/To You with Love, Donny.
There are many of Donny's hit songs, from the pleasant rocking rhythm of...Read more

'Alone Together' was the first LP I ever bought. My neighbour had 'Portrait Of Donny', which I loved and fully intended to buy, but 'Alone Together' was just released so I went with that. Of course, there are many 'cooler' albums to have as your first purchase, but I've always adored 'Alone Together' and as the years rolled by I never expected it to get released on CD.
But, thanks to 7ts records, it has! And what a good job they've made of it too. As far as early Donny albums go, it's no break from the formula, but something about it's mixture of covers, tunes written by his brothers and more uptempo material makes it special. Who can't love the likes of 'Life Is Just What You Make It', 'Sunshine Rose' and 'The Other Side Of Me'? Who can't be charmed by it's 2 UK #1 singles 'Young Love' and 'The Twelfth Of Never' and fab Osmonds penned tracks like 'Do You Want Me', 'It Takes A Lot Of Love' and 'Tears On My Pillow'? Donny's voice here, starting to 'break', is superb and the...Read more

Donny was 15 when these albums came out in 1973. His voice was changing, but oddly these songs sound terrific. ALONE TOGETHER has a lot of easy going pop songs. His last top 10 solo of the 70s, THE TWELFTH OF NEVER is on this album. An original composition, LIFE IS JUST WHAT YOU MAKE IT is an uplifting song and the title chosen for his autobiography. YOUNG LOVE is not a personal favorite single of mine, but it does grow on you. It was #1 in England!! Donny is amazing at any age, his career only got better when he sang with his sister, Marie. She's my favorite Osmond.
A TIME FOR US is a fan favorite, I've read and noticed over the years, Although it's only mediocre to me. The title song is romantic and well sung. The single, ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT? is good, the only Donny song that makes me prefer the original (Elvis) version. YOUNG AND IN LOVE sounds better on the "Make the world go away" album, when he and Marie re-recorded it. I'm not crazy about this album as a whole. I...Read more
